The first phase of setting up any
site, be it custom or static, involves pure input. The more information you
give me the better I can understand what you are looking to create. Some of
this information relates to the overall message of the Web site along with
its purpose, intended audience, and goals. Other elements such as logos, textual
content, and prior marketing materials are more tangible.
It is much better to give me your
data in digital format; the images ideally should be in a format that can
be read by my graphics programs and the content should be in a word processing
format such as Word. If I have to spend time recreating logos or keying in
faxed text, the work moves much faster, which is better for you and for me.
It is true...every bit of information,
colors, concepts, text, images, advertising and written materials, can
make your site special. When building a house you have to pick out all
the colors, hardware, textures, carpets and woodwork, same in building
a site...on the web!
